Mike has spent the last 20 years building a highly successful Professional Services business, growing it from a sole practitioner to a 135-person multi-disciplinary team. He understands the challenges and loneliness that come with owning and running a business, and has demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout his career. Under his guidance, the company has developed an enviable culture, brand, and strategy, with a diverse Board and Senior Management Team.
Mike began his career in financial and general management, working for a variety of technology-based businesses, including Waste Management, Precision Manufacturing, Local & Central Government, and Telecoms. He has worked for both UK and international companies, ranging from Top 4 firms to FTSE 250 companies and billion-dollar corporations, following his qualification with Deloitte.
In addition to his work in the professional services sector, Mike is also passionate about rugby. He founded the charitable arm of Northampton Saints six years ago, which uses rugby to re-engage young people with education. Mike is currently a Trustee on the main Board and a Director of the trading company. The charity has grown significantly over the years, expanding from just a few part-time employees serving a dozen young people, to a team of 35 serving 400 young people. The organization has also expanded from a single site to six locations, and has recently secured contracts with HMP and G4S for young inmate rehabilitation.
Mike’s talent for establishing and demonstrating a positive culture, as well as implementing a complimentary strategy, has made him a valuable asset in a variety of business environments. He possesses a wide range of experience that has allowed him to hone the essential skills required of an effective Board Member, whether it be as a Chair, CEO, CFO or NED.
